Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) Technology
As a world leader in developing and manufacturing high-performance integrated circuits, Allegro uses advanced magnetic sensing technology to meet today’s most demanding application requirements. Our giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect technology is a key part of our portfolio, offering a powerful tool for designers to address new challenges and extend IC capabilities.
While renowned for its use in high-resolution speed sensing, GMR offers the unique ability to sense in-plane to the IC surface. This enables the creation of novel, robust, and differentially magnetic solutions that are not possible with traditional Hall-effect technology. Allegro is one of very few IC manufacturers who directly integrate GMR technology on top of our semiconductor wafers, an approach that improves reliability and simplifies system design.
This integrated and versatile platform is now enabling breakthroughs in new markets, from industrial automation to the life sciences.
